From the Pulpit - June 2010

The things we say and how we say them is a measure and indicator of our spritual walk. The person that ministers grace to the hearers is a testimony to God, the Giver of grace. Is it not grace that allows us to love without fear? Ungodly fear is a trap that hinders us in a most dreadful way, but if we remember God's promises, we have nothing to fear. A disciplined mind that is rooted and grounded in the Lord's statutes helps us to know God's love and to have the faith to walk in it. The weather may be foul or fair, yet our duty remains the same. Nobody likes a fair-weather friend, and the Lord does not want fair-weather Christians. The Lord is with us even when we make mistakes, because even when we have forsaken his counsel, he will still guide us to victory if we turn to him again. In order to truly build on what the Lord has shown us, we need to hear the Word, do it, and bring forth fruit with patience. This is how we can establish our hearts, holding on to the words of life. At the same time we look forward with great anticipation to the Lord's return. Yes, the King is coming and it is going to be great! Amen.

Sunday 06.06.2010 – Every idle word that men shall speak - dm

A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. (Mat. 12:35-36)

For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and has been tamed by mankind: But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. (Jas. 3:7-8)

The LORD is near unto them that are of a broken heart; and saves such as be of a contrite spirit. (Ps. 34:18)

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver. (Prov. 25:11)

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. (Ps. 19:14)

Sunday 13.06.2010 – For God has not given us the spirit of fear - dm

For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Tim. 1:7)

Then shall you prosper, if you take heed to fulfill the statutes and judgments which the LORD charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage; dread not, nor be dismayed. (1 Chr. 22:13)

You shall guide me with your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. (Ps. 73:24)

Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loves another has fulfilled the law. (Rom. 13:8)

Love works no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. (Rom. 13:10)

Let my heart be sound in your statutes; that I be not ashamed. (Ps. 119:80)

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for you, LORD, only make me dwell in safety. (Ps. 4:8)

Sunday 20.06.2010 – For the LORD your God is he that goes with you
- dm

For the LORD your God is he that goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you. (Deut. 20:4)

But cleave unto the LORD your God, as you have done unto this day. For the LORD has driven out from before you great nations and strong: but as for you, no man has been able to stand before you unto this day. One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the LORD your God, he it is that fights for you, as he has promised you. Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that you love the LORD your God. (Josh. 23:8-11)

And the men took of their provisions, and asked not counsel at the mouth of the LORD. (Josh. 9:14)

Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things comes the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. (Eph. 5:6)

Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength. By me kings reign, and princes decree justice. By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth. I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. (Prov. 8:14-17)

Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety. (Prov. 11:14)

Sunday 27.06.2010 – Be patient therefore - dm

Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, and has long patience for it, until he receives the early and latter rain. Be also patient; establish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draws near. (Jas. 5:7-8)

The LORD shall establish you a holy people unto himself, as he has sworn unto you, if you shall keep the commandments of the LORD your God, and walk in his ways. (Deut. 28:9)

Establish your word unto your servant, who is devoted to your fear. (Ps. 119:38)

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.
(1 Thes. 4:16-18)

He who testifies these things says, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. (Rev. 22:20-21)
