From the Pulpit - July 2010


When we think of power from on high, we can remember many good things, for example God's mercy towards us; his love for us that is embodied in the Lord Jesus; the gift of holy Spirit that dwells within us. That gift is something very special, as it is a seal from God and accompanies us always. We should be encouraged and have courage because there is power from on high indeed, guiding us and comforting us in the face of all obstacles. God's transforming power can never be doubted, for the biggest of turnarounds are always possible. Yes, through God's grace, where once there was a desert can now be a fruitful land. Still, much ploughing, planting, and praying needs to be done if we are to turn all barren areas in our lives into places where roses bloom. Another blessing is the precious peace we have through our Lord. Peace be unto you, dear reader! It is so important that we hold on to the peace that has been given to us. The chosen and faithful saints go in the name of the King and also in his strength and peace. Only in this way, equipped and obedient, can we bring glory to his kingdom and truly serve him as King of kings and Lord of lords. Amen.


Sunday 04.07.2010 – Power from on high - ae

And upon them that are left alive of you I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a shaken leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursues.
(Lev. 26:36)

Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking toward those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. (Luke 21:26)

Oh how great is your goodness, which you have laid up for them that fear you; which you have wrought for them that trust in you before the sons of men! You shall hide them in the secret of your presence from the pride of man: you shall keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues. (Ps. 31:19-20)

Blessed are they that dwell in your house: they will be still praising you. Selah. Blessed is the man whose strength is in you; in whose heart are the ways to them. (Ps. 84:4-5)


Sunday 11.07.2010 – The desert shall rejoice and blossom as a rose - dm

The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. (Is. 35:1)

Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house. (2 Chr. 7:1)

Now no chastening for the present seems to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them who are trained by it. Therefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;
(Heb. 12:11-12)

Now God himself even our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you. And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you: To the end he may establish your hearts unblamable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.
(1 Thes. 3:11-13)


Sunday 18.07.2010 – Peace be unto you - ae

Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and said unto them, Peace be unto you. (John 20:19)

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you are called in one body; and be thankful. (Col. 3:15)

And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:7)

In this is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. (1 John 4:17)


Sunday 25.07.2010 – King of kings - dm

Artaxerxes, king of kings, unto Ezra the priest, a scribe of the law of the God of heaven, perfect peace, and so forth.
(Ezra 7:12)

And all the silver and gold that you can find in all the province of Babylon, with the freewill offering of the people, and of the priests, offered willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem: (Ezra 7:16)

But God has revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God. (1 Cor. 2:10)

These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. (Rev. 17:14)
