There is none holy like our God, yet we are commanded, Be you holy for I am holy. This is not without difficulties for us, as it is not in our nature to even know what holiness is. Thankfully God's spirit is always with us, and by being faithful in small things we come closer to the one who is holy indeed. It is only through our Lord Jesus that we can be holy and without blame. He is also the one that teaches us not to envy, showing us what we have in him. This is essential to our service, so that we can love out of a pure heart. As we sit at the Master’s feet, we continue to learn of him and from him. There may be times when other matters seem more pressing, but this one thing is needful. It helps us to believe the Word of the Lord and live according to it, regardless of the circumstances. The cruse of oil did not fail and the meal did not run out either. And all that because the servant of the Lord Elijah did all things according to the Word of the Lord. Let us pray that we do the same - after all it is the fear of the Lord that is the beginning of knowledge. Let us cry out for knowledge and lift up our voice for understanding so we may find the knowledge of God. Amen.
